Born in Turin on November 1, 1962, he is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger. A jazz-trained artist, he has deepened his experience in almost every possible musical genre, bringing together in a unique vocabulary everything absorbed from the most diverse stylistic backgrounds, driven by both professional curiosity and serendipitous circumstances.
Having received his elementary training in a village band, he encountered jazz in the 1970s in the first clubs of his hometown, where he became an early protagonist. His jazz activity has led him to collaborate with many internationally renowned jazz musicians, including Franco D'Andrea and Dado Moroni, Barney Kessel and John Patitucci, Steve Grossman and Enrico Rava, and Flavio Boltro and François Jeanneau, performing in countless clubs and festivals across more than 20 European and non-European countries, totaling over 2,000 concerts.
Between 1990 and 2000, he composed numerous concert works, including:
"Diorite Sonora - Concerto for Saxophone Solo"**: a tribute to the great sculptor Mario Giansone.
The soundtrack for the European Whitney Museum exhibition** in New York with the Saxea 4tet.
"Contrapunctum": a concert for Renaissance/Gregorian choir and saxophone.
"Tam Tam": for the Teatro Regio in Turin, featuring some of the greatest African percussion masters.
"Natura Morta con Custodia di Sax": by and with Geoff Dyer and Riccardo Forte.
"È la Parola un’Ala di Silenzio": based on texts by Pablo Neruda with Oliviero Corbetta and the Saxea 4tet.
"Arie e Tamburi": for the Jungle Stomp Orchestra, an ensemble of 30 musicians comprising African drums, a classical string section, a jazz trio, an operatic voice, and an "Afro" voice.
From 1996 to today, he has directed dozens of jazz festivals and musical events, including the 1997 and 1998 editions of "Jazz in Town" in Turin and Bologna for Philip Morris, and "Jazz a Palazzo" at the Royal Palace of Turin.
He has collaborated as an instrumentalist or arranger on numerous television programs across all national networks and on countless recordings, ranging from pop music to film soundtracks. Recently, he participated in the World Summer Tour of Solomon Burke and B.B. King (over 30 concerts) and the Fiorella Mannoia tour (approximately 150 concerts), including a notable appearance at the "Live 8" concert in Rome.
