One of the most precocious talents in the history of jazz. When he was just nine years old, Francesco took his first steps, working with internationally renowned musicians. The meeting with Wynton Marsalis at the Pescara Jazz Festival, held in July 2002, was a decisive moment in Francesco's career. Amazed by Francesco's qualities, Marsalis brought him along with his septet on his 2003 European tour, where Francesco performed in prestigious theaters in the largest cities in Europe. From that moment, Francesco experienced a series of important milestones both in Italy and abroad. He has won several major awards: the Massimo Urbani National Award in Urbisaglia, the EuroJazz Award in Lecco, the International Jazz Festivals Organization Award in New York, the World Saxophone Competition in London, the Django d'Or in Rome, and many others. To experiment with new styles and musical genres, Francesco traveled to New Orleans, where he played with Ellis Marsalis and many other important local musicians. In 2004, he participated as a special guest at the Sanremo Music Festival. In 2005, *Swing Journal*, the authoritative Japanese jazz music magazine, awarded him the New Stars Award, a prize reserved for emerging foreign talents. Soon after, he was affirmed in the *Top Jazz* referendum by the magazine *Musica Jazz*, which recognized him as the best new talent of the year. Francesco has performed with world-famous musicians: Hank Jones, Dave Brubeck, Cedar Walton, Mulgrew Miller, Jimmy Cobb, Ben Riley, Ray Drummond, Lewis Nash, James Williams, Joe Lovano, Christian McBride, George Mraz, Kenny Wheeler, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, and many others. In February 2006, Francesco obtained his Diploma in Flute from the Vincenzo Bellini Musical Institute in Catania. Since 2008, he has been the Artistic Director of the “Vittoria Jazz Festival” in his hometown of Vittoria. On January 19, 2009, he played in Washington D.C. during the celebrations in honor of President Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On July 17, 2009, the Umbria Jazz Foundation named Francesco the “Ambassador of Italian Jazz Music in the World.” In 2012, he arranged “Don't Stop,” the background music for the current ENI commercial. In 2010, he obtained his Master’s Degree in Jazz from the Corelli Conservatory in Messina. Immediately after, he performed in China during the "The Best of Italian Jazz" festival at the Shanghai Expo. In July 2012, for the Olympics, he was invited to perform in London at the Casa Italia headquarters, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to London and the top officials of the CONI. In September 2012, during a long stay in the United States, he held a series of masterclasses in Saxophone at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In June 2013, at the behest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consul General of Philadelphia, in collaboration with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Francesco was chosen to represent Italy to perform during the celebrations for the Year of Italian Culture in the United States. On February 20, 2014, Francesco received the “Grand Award of Merit” from the “American Society of the Italian Legions of Merit” in New York, on behalf of the numerous contributions of Sicilian jazz musicians to the development and dissemination of jazz music throughout the world. In March 2015, the ambitious musical work titled *3* (Alfredo Lo Faro Productions) was released. Consisting of three profoundly different albums—*La Banda*, *Contemplation*, and *20 Cents per Notes*—and released simultaneously, the three albums feature Cafiso in the roles of composer, arranger, and performer.
