Originally from Lecce, Italy, Luca Alemanno is considered by critics and musicians "among the best young, modern jazz musicians that Italy currently has to offer." He was awarded 1st Prize at the 2009 European Bass Day. At the age of 19, he received two scholarships to attend the Berklee College of Music (Boston). He holds a degree in Classical Double Bass from the "T. Schipa" Conservatory of Music (Lecce) and a second in Jazz Electric Bass from the "G. Martucci" Conservatory of Music (Salerno). In 2016, Luca won the audition for the world-renowned "Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance" class of 2018 in Los Angeles. The panel was composed of Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Jimmy Heath, Kenny Burrell, among others. Luca is the first Italian musician to have achieved this goal. Touring, recording, and performing all over the world, he is currently part of several projects, including the Fabrizio Bosso Quartet, Anne Ducros Quartet, Stanley Jordan Trio, and Nicola Conte Jazz Combo. A musician with diverse interests and a wide range of skills, Luca has performed (in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Canada, USA, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Angola, Russia, Turkey, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Belarus, Ukraine, Kosovo, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, Serbia, Bulgaria, Netherlands) with international jazz artists such as: Dee Dee Bridgewater, Joe Lovano, Stanley Jordan, Kenwood Dennard, Maria Schneider, Jerry Bergonzi, Mark Guiliana, Jason Lindner, Enrico Pieranunzi, Fabrizio Bosso, Flavio Boltro, Rosario Giuliani, Anne Ducros, Logan Richardson, Kim Plainfield, Bill O'Connell, Teppo Mäkynen, Magnus Lindgren, and Nicola Conte, among others.
