Considered one of the most interesting interpreters of Johann Sebastian Bach's music today. In May 2009, he debuted at the Leipziger Gewandhaus with Riccardo Chailly and the Gewandhausorchester, performing two of Bach's greatest piano concertos. The *Leipziger Volkszeitung* wrote: “a magician of sound, a poet of the keyboard… an extraordinary artist who has the courage to approach Bach in a truly personal way.” Other important appointments throughout the 2009-10 season included: performances at the “Piano aux Jacobins” Festival in Toulouse, then in Finland and Estonia with Andres Mustonen (including an appearance at the opening concert of the Tallinn Estonian Baroque Festival), and in solo recitals; in February, his Paris debut with the *Goldberg Variations*, and in March, a tour with the Festival Strings Lucerne; in May, another great success with Riccardo Chailly at the Gewandhaus, completing the presentation of Bach's concertos; and the following summer, invitations from other major European piano festivals (including La Roque d'Anthéron and Uzés in France) and the Beijing Piano Festival. The Persian pianist delves ever deeper into his original blend of chiseled interpretative reading and a vision of Johann Sebastian Bach's monumental piano works that is both European and Eastern. In 2009, DECCA Universal released the 6-CD box set *Ramin Bahrami plays Bach*, containing all of Bahrami's Bach recordings up to that point and a selection of live performances from recent years, followed in 2010 by the recording of the *French Suites*. Before that, the *Goldberg Variations*, the *7 Partitas*, and *The Art of Fugue*, released in 2004, 2005, and 2007 respectively, launched Bahrami as a popular artist; the recording of *The Art of Fugue* reached the top ten best-sellers in the pop music chart in Italy, maintaining this position for seven weeks. This was followed by the release of the *Italian Concerto*, featuring Bach's Italian-inspired works (*Italian Concerto*, *Aria variata alla maniera italiana*, *Capriccio sopra la lontananza del fratello dilettissimo*, *Four Duets*, etc.), and in 2009, the unusual Bach sonatas again received important critical and public acclaim. Bahrami has already performed in the most prestigious concert halls on the Italian musical scene. Among his highlights are important tours and performances in halls such as the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Sala Verdi in Milan, the Teatro Olimpico in Rome, and above all, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, where he appeared in the prestigious “Solo Piano” series alongside Maurizio Pollini, Grigory Sokolov, Daniel Barenboim, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Evgeny Kissin, and where, in March 2008, he performed a "Bach-Marathon" with cellist Mario Brunello. In June 2008, his appearance at the Wigmore Hall in London was met with great public acclaim. In May 2009, he performed *The Art of Fugue* at the prestigious “Arturo Benedetto Michelangeli” International Piano Festival in Brescia and Bergamo, alongside other major piano names such as András Schiff, Lang Lang, Angela Hewitt, Grigory Sokolov, and Alexander Lonquich. In September, he received an invitation to open the autumn edition of the Bologna Festival “Il nuovo, l'antico” and to close the Pergolesi Spontini Festival with cellist Umberto Clerici, playing Bach's viola sonatas and works by other composers, which he then performed on tour in Asolo, Naples, L'Aquila, and other Italian cities. Furthermore, he recently opened the chamber music season at Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Beethoven Festival in Warsaw, together with flutist Massimo Mercelli. After a triumphant concert in the Great Hall of the Liszt Academy in Budapest and at the Tonhalle in Zurich, he had the opportunity to perform with Yuri Bashmet and the Moscow Soloists. Born in Tehran, he left his country at the age of 5 with his mother and siblings after the murky death of his father, a Persian engineer imprisoned during the Ayatollah revolution. Bahrami was helped to go to Italy, where he studied piano with Piero Rattalino, graduating from the “Giuseppe Verdi” State Conservatory in Milan and the “Incontri col Maestro” Piano Academy in Imola; he later studied with Wolfgang Bloser at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart. Bahrami then specialized with Alexis Weissenberg, András Schiff, Robert Levin, and above all, Rosalyn Tureck, the pianist who contributed significantly to popularizing Johann Sebastian Bach in the modern piano repertoire. Bahrami's debut at the Teatro Bellini in Catania was so impressive that the municipality granted him honorary citizenship that day. Since then, he has appeared mainly in Italy, invited by the most important Italian theaters, seasons, and prestigious piano festivals. In 2004, he signed an exclusive contract with Decca Universal for a series of Bach recordings, a testament to his increasingly profound knowledge of Bach's work. In January 2009, Bahrami was awarded the “Città di Piacenza-Giuseppe Verdi” Prize, dedicated to the greatest figures on the music scene (preceded by Riccardo Muti, Josè Cura, Leo Nucci, and Pier Luigi Pizzi). He was also awarded the “Mozart Box” prize for his passionate and captivating work in distributing classical music. His highly successful recordings have also been published in a dedicated 13-CD collection by the newspaper *Corriere della Sera*. He has also published two books with the Mondadori publishing house. A third book is coming soon, titled *"Nonno Bach"*.
